For my brother’s birthday this summer we arranged a champagne afternoon tea. He loves the woodlands and makes greenwood furniture, so I tried to incorporate that in the cake. It was all a bit hit and miss, as I had to make the cake, transport it undamaged in a car packed to the ceiling with camping gear and then ice and decorate in Shropshire. I forgot to take my food colouring and cutters for the ’50’, so had to scrounge all sorts off my Mum’s neigbour. But it all worked out quite well in the end – I think everyone enjoyed it!
