Nigella’s Christmas Morning Muffins

I know Christmas has been and gone, but we are back to school tomorrow and I had some dried cranberries and odd paper cases to be used up, so I decided to make this recipe from ‘How To Be  A Domestic Goddess’. For some reason muffins have never been my strength – it’s all a question of knowing  just how lumpy to leave the mix and I guess I always want to smooth it out a bit more… Anyway, these have turned out pretty well.

We have been to Cambridge this morning and I got some Seville oranges from the market, so hopefully I can get some of the January specials made and photographed this week. I did not envy the market traders in temperatures of  minus 4c this morning! I’m going back to Cambridge tomorrow to meet a friend at the sales – she works full-time and we don’t get to go shopping very often, so I’m hoping for some productive bargain hunting!

I went to the Knitting Dept. at John Lewis on the first day of the sale and bought some Rowan Natural Silk Aran for a mere £1 per ball! So I’ve started yet another project – a short-sleeved summer cardigan. I’m determined to finish this one… I chose this pistachio green with flecks of rust and navy in it.
