These were made for a wedding reception at South Farm at Shingay cum Wendy last week.
I used a variety of cases from white, purple spots and purple butterflies through to a deep purple case and purple foil. The overall effect was very pretty.
There were a variety of flowers used as decorations from roses and daisies through to blossoms, mini blossom sprinkles and a 2 layer gerbera/daisy.
They left a small hand tied bunch of dark arum lilies for the top of the cake. At first I thought they might be a bit dark, but they actually seemed to pick up the tone of the chocolate and deep purple case.
I particularly like these purple butterfly cases from Squires, which also come in the reverse colour way of purple butterflies on white.
They also requested some extra cakes in gift bags to give out as a little present for those who couldn’t make the wedding or as a thank-you.
After weeks of dry weather the heavens decided to open just as I arrived at the venue and there was the most tremendous downpour. The cake boxes got a bit rain-splattered, but the cakes were fine, thank goodness.
The couple seemed very happy with their cakes and said “thank you for the wonderful wedding cake that you made for us, everyone commented on how amazing it looked and how good they tasted. The extra gift-wrapped cakes that you made went down a treat to as thank you gifts.”
